Cory Gassmann
Background
Hi, I'm Cory and I love all kinds of bikes. I consider myself a PURELY RECREATIONAL RIDER. I have a super comfy Single speed with upright handlebars. A long distance carbon roadbike made for long distance riding and a Utility Commuter Road Bike for my back & forth riding to work. Coming from a social work background I like to think I am changing the world one bike at a time instead of changing the world one child at a time.
Specific duties at the shop
I am the Owner, Mechanic, Salesman, Bookkeeper, Personnel Manager, Parts and Accessories Merchandising Manager, Advertising Manager, Bathroom Cleaner & Sweeper, Question Answerer and all around Go-To-Guy!
Favorite 2009 Bicycle: Kona Dew Drop
I bought myself a 2009 Kona Dew Drop to ride through the inclement months. This is an aluminum road bike with urban, more upright geometry. Equipped with Disc Brakes, I can stop on a dime even after riding through a 6 inch deep puddle. The wheels and the shifting components are not the most expensive, but tey are perfect for the urban assault I put it through. Stop by and see why the Kona Dew Drop offers the most bang for the buck!

Today his fixed gear bicycle is a 2009 Kona Paddy Wagon, and previously he was the proud owner of a 2008 Kona Sutra, a very stable touring bike with unique features including disc brakes and a Shimano XT rear deraileur. In addition, Devin owns 2 completely custom FBM BMX Bikes because BMX will always be a part of him!
Specific duties at the shop

Favorite 2009 Bicycle: Kona Sutra
This touring bicycle is comfortable like a sofa, yet is capable of carrying a full load of cargo needed for a self sustained bike tour. The best thing about this bike, according to Devin, are the 9-speed Shimano bar end shifter and Avid BB-7 Disc Brakes. "Year round cycling is what the Kona Sutra is built for."
Jim Doherty (JD)
Background
I grew up in a Schwinn family. My dad owned the Bay View Cyclery from 1973-2003. We sold Schwinn in the 70's, but soon branched out to sell Motobecane, Gitane, Bianchi, Peugot and Astro-Daimler during the Euro-boom of the late 70's - early 80's. We were the first Cannondale dealer in the area, as well as one of the first to sell hybrids in the 90's. When I turned 21 in 1987, I began buying bikes and selecting brands for Bay View Cyclery. In the last 20 years I've had experience with most brands, and I've found that the smaller specialty brands basically try harder to differentiate their product, and allow us to offer more choices. Whether it's fixies, specialty hybrids, cyclocross, or traditional steel frame bikes, we've got the bases covered.
Specific duties at the shop
Cory and I spend a lot of time choosing which bikes to carry. We compare components, value and style as well as the reputation of the company. I'm generally a new bike salesperson, and I've had 25 years of wrenching experience to make sure the bikes are adjusted properly when they leave the store (some would say I'm overly picky.) Everyone at the store has a particular area of expertise so we can offer you personalized attention and provide you with all the information you need.
Favorite 2009 Bicycle: Jamis Allegro 2.0
I prefer what are called straight-bar road bikes. Some classify them as hybrids in that they have a mountain bike style handlebar and will accept a wider 700c tire, but they can be as light as a road bike, including a carbon fork. They have road bike wheels and a road bike gear ratio for speed, but I like the sense of control I have with a straight handlebar. The shift and brake levers are right where you want them too. That said, my favorite bike is the Allegro 2.0 from JAMIS. The frame and fork are high-tech, and the 2x9 Tiagra drivetrain is exactly what I need. The San Marco saddle and Vittoria tires are sweet too.

Favorite 2009 Bicycle: Masi Soulville SS
His favorite bike is a 2009 Masi Soulville SS fixed gear bike. "It has a unique look and style about it. No need to personalize this bike with different aftermarket parts or accessories. It says, 'laid back!'"

Favorite 2009 Bicycle: Kona Zing Deluxe
"I really like this road race bike for several reasons, including the Dedacciai Nero Corsa Carbon Frame, Shimano 105/Ultegra groupset, a progressive FSA BB30 bottom bracket, and Mavic Axsium wheels."
Andrew Moore
Background
Before joining Cory's, I volunteered for 2 years with a bicycle cooperative in Stevens Point, WI called the Stanley Project. In college, I enjoyed cycling through the area on a Trek 7000 along the Green Circle, a limestone path that passed through hardwood forest, tree plantations, and grassland. I also ride a fully rigid Schwinn PDG 30 Paramount mountain bike, a fixie conversion, an older single-speed Gary Fisher Tassajara, and a 1984 Trek 620.
Specific duties at the shop
For the last year I've worked in the service department performing tune-ups under the supervision of Cory. This year I have begun maintaining the shop website, and will also assist Eric Koester with used bike sales this Summer. I also enjoy sharing my suggestions with any questions you may have walking into the shop.
Favorite 2009 Bicycle: Kona Kula
This bike is FAST. Built for cross country mountain biking and equipped to race, this Kona Kula is built around a light and stiff 7005 RaceLight aluminum frame. Other mentionables include hydraulic Shimano m575 disc brakes, a 4 lb. Rock Shox Recon SL fork, and a Shimano XT Shadow rear deraileur.
I swapped the 175mm FSA cranks for 170mm Shimano XT to help better fit the bike to me. The bike comes with clipless Shimano pedals, but I installed Crankbrothers Eggbeater SL pedals since I use Eggbeaters on most my bikes already. To enhance shifting, I upgraded the Deore shifters to XT. Final touches include a wireless cyclocomputer, and white Lizard Skins Charger grips.
Stop by the shop and test-ride my 17" Kona Kula demo bike. I ride it into work Tuesday - Saturday, rain or shine. I'm a huge fan of this bike, and would reccomend it to anyone seeking a fun and lightweight mountainbike. Just ask for me, Andy. I'd be glad to show this bike any time!
